Valencia (11/06/2007).- Through the Managing Body for the (GTP) Generalitat's (Valencian autonomous government) Transport and Port Network, the Regional Ministry for Infrastructure and Transport has awarded the drawing up of the project for the new Formula One urban circuit in Valencia. This project will define the actions necessary for constructing the circuit where, as of 2008, the European Formula One Grand Prix will be held.
The company joint venture (specifically UTE in Spain) between AYESA and TYPSA was awarded the project plan. The planned investment is 2.1 million euros. The consultant companies in this joint venture -Técnica y Proyectos S.A. (TYPSA) and Agua y Estructuras S.A. (AYESA) - are two of the most important consultant companies in Spain and they both have a strong footing in the Comunitat Valencia (Valencian Community).
The bid presented by the company joint venture (UTE) stands out for its broad knowledge and extensive experience in elaborating high-speed circuit projects. For example, AYESA designed and managed the building of the high-speed circuit at Jerez de la Frontera, and just recently, it redesigned this circuit to adapt it to the new regulations on circuits. AYESA has vast experience working with urban bridges and singular structures.
The submitted bid includes the collaboration of Tilke GMBH & Co., which shall act in an advisory capacity to the company; Tilke GMBH & Co. has designed the principal international circuits in recent times: Sepang (Malaysia), Shangai (China), Istanbul (Turkey) and Bahrein (Kingdom of Bahrein).
Moreover, the joint venture also benefits from the cooperation of Professor in Civil Engineering, Dr. Sandro Rocci, who designed the project for the high-speed circuit at Jarama. The proposal puts forward a solution that is compatible with the use of the Real Juan Carlos I Marina and with the Valencian town council's projection for urban planning; all of which will be coordinated with the FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) and FOM (Formula One Management) specifications. The proposal is for a landscape and urban integration with the existing platforms in the solution to be designed.
Drawing up the project for the construction of a Formula One urban circuit includes a series of actions which will connect the city's Alameda and Avenida de Francia with the Real Juan Carlos I Marina, as well as with the future north access point to the port. Thus, these construction works will lead to urban and communications improvement in this whole area. In this way, the new infrastructures will be available for daily and permanent use by the city's traffic, while being compatible with the holding of the sporting event.
The project plan includes the urbanization of Avenida de Francia -Alameda and the construction of an under-bridge under the current railway that intersects with the Alameda. Furthermore, the adaptation of the Port's (Juan Carlos I Marina) inner dock and the construction of a swing bridge there, are also planned.
The contract for the construction project plan for the Formula One urban circuit also includes drawing up a basic project for adaptation of the area for sports use i.e. fences, stands, protection facilities, boxes, etc. All facilities related to this basic project will be easily assembled and removed.
