Valencia (15/08/2008).- From today, Valencia opens its doors to the Formula 1, transforming the city into a real fiesta for those attending the Formula 1 Telefonica Grand Prix of Europe, which will take place from 22- 24 August at the Valencia Street Circuit.

Valmor Sports, together with the local administration and partners in the Grand Prix, have prepared different activities in the best-known areas of the city, which will allow spectators to enjoy this great sporting occasion close up.

Entertainment areas have been installed in three of the city's most popular sites, offering a number of activities for all types of visitors: Malvarrosa Beach Park, Hemisfèric Photo Point and the Info Point in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

Malvarrosa Beach Park

Next to the Hotel Las Arenas, this space is more than 5,000 square metres in size and contains a number of marquees that offer a wide range of leisure activities as well as workshops for children.

The Generalitat's (regional government) marquee offers visitors the chance to run a virtual lap around the Valencia Street Circuit in a single-seater vehicle simulating a Formula 1 car. This is the only simulator which reproduces the innovative layout of the Valencia Street Circuit. There is also a Scalextric track representing the layout of the Valencian urban circuit, on which participants can compete.

Other initiatives include a Hummer decorated with the image of the Castellón Golf Masters, the installation of a model of the Valencia Street Circuit, kids' workshops, tourist information centres, the Volvo Ocean Race Road Show, the Jaume I Road Show and another for the inland areas of the region.

The ING Direct area contains a box with the clothing worn by the Champion of Formula 1, Fernando Alonso, and a replica of his car will be on display from 18 August onwards. All visitors will also be offered the chance to have their photo taken as a souvenir of the occasion.

There will also be two F1 simulators which will offer the chance to perform a lap on a circuit, and another for younger visitors.

However, one of the most exciting activities taking place in this marquee is the prize of a free trip for two people to the Brazilian Grand Prix, which will be offered in a prize draw among all the visitors to the area.

The marquee of the F1 Grand Prix of Europe's sponsor will house different items with the aim of encouraging the Spanish driver, Fernando Alonso. Another of the partners in the Grand Prix, Frigo, will install its Ben & Jerry's "the longest tongue" activity from 21 August onwards, in which all participants will receive a free ice-cream.

Coca-cola will install its "Burn" materials from 22 August, with two motorbike simulators and another two in buggy format. The stand run by the Diputación de Valencia will feature three Photo Corners.

The Malvarrosa Beach Park will be one of the official outlets for the sale to the public of Valencia Street Circuit merchandise and for the distribution of information relating to the F1 Grand Prix of Europe.

Hemisfèric Photo Point

At the Hemisfèric Photo Point, located in one of the most emblematic sites in the city of Valencia, beneath the arches of the Prince Felipe Museum of the City of Arts and Sciences, the visitor will be provided with all the information related to the Grand Prix of Europe and the Valencia Street Circuit. It is one of many information points scattered across the city and also boasts another activity related to the world of motor racing.

All visitors can have their photo taken alongside a Formula 1 racing car, in this case one of the Williams team cars, and will have the chance to acquire official merchandise of the Valencia Street Circuit.
