Valencia (10/07/2008).- The public coming to Motor Box Experience’s leisure zone from 21st to 24th August will be able to enjoy a revamped speed classic – Scalextric® – completely free of charge.
This traditional game that has been around for almost 40 years and has millions of adepts all over the globe had no intention of being left out of such an important event in the world of motor racing as the F1 Grand Prix of Europe.
The Scalextric® company is paying tribute to the race by setting up two scale models of the Valencia Street Circuit at Feria Valencia.
The activity area of the motor sports leisure zone at the Valencia exhibition centre will feature a total of 15 Scalextric® tracks of two different types:
Motor Box Experience will have four of these tracks. Scalextric® Compact has been specially designed for children of between 4 and 6 years of age. Tailored to the demands on space of today’s modern homes, these tracks take up just 2 square metres, whilst the controls and cars are on a smaller scale suited to a child’s ergonomics. Also, the cars have stronger magnets so are easier to drive.
There will be eleven Scalextric® Digital System tracks at Feria Valencia. With this system up to six cars can race at any one time and it is not the fastest car that wins but, instead, the one that has applied the best strategy as drivers can select how much petrol to have in the tank at the start of the race, how many pit-stops they makes and how frequently they brake.
The eleven Scalextric® Digital System tracks will also be a huge Competition Area made up of different zones. In Zone 1 competitors will play in groups of three. The best times achieved in each circuit will be classified to compete in Zone 2, where competitors will race on one of the two reproductions of the Valencia Street Circuit that Scalextric® will be setting up specially for the occasion. The three best times recorded in Zone 2 will each win a Scalextric® Digital System track.
To complete its leisure package Scalextric® will be staging a display of a number of the competition vehicles – cars and bikes – from the different badges the company features as part of the Scalextric® Racing Team.
The Motor Box Experience Leisure Zone at Feria Valencia will be open to all from 10h to 20h non-stop. As well as Scalextric® , this activity area will also offer outdoor and indoor karting plus new elements to be announced by the organisers soon.
