Valmor Sports has organized these important races as a test run for the Valencia Street Circuit before holding the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe. These races will be held on the weekend of 26 and 27 July so as to minimise the interruptions to the daily activity at the Port of Valencia.
Fernando Roig, president of Valmor Sports, stated during the presentation of these preliminary competitions that "these competitions will serve as a test for the asphalt, the tracks and the access points i.e. for all the components of the Valencia Street Circuit, and of course it will be a test for the organisation".
These competitions prior to the Formula One Grand Prix of Europe will have a substantial international presence due to the 25 different nationalities participating and due to the broadcasting of the races in 54 countries.
The Spanish Formula 3 Championship will hold its fourth round of the season at the Valencia Street Circuit. Until now, five different drivers have achieved victory in six races and three drivers are leading the standings with the same points, seven points ahead of the next three drivers.
The International GT Open is usually held at famous circuits, such as Spa, Magny-Cours or Monza. The Valencia Street Circuit will hold the fifth round of the season—the last one before the summer shutdown. The round at the Valencia Street Circuit promises to be exceptionally exciting as the drivers strive to achieve high rankings before the season ends.
