Preparing the Valencia Street Circuit

Valmor Sports Installs Grandstands around the Valencia Street Circuit

About 30% of the grandstands will be ready for the F3 and GT races in July. More than 110,000 spectators will attend the Formula One Grand Prix of Europe.

Valencia (23/06/2008).- Valmor Sports has already started installing the grandstands around the Valencia Street Circuit from where more than 110,000 spectators will watch the Formula One Grand Prix of Europe.

The process of setting up the Valencia Street Circuit is progressing quickly and the organisation estimates that the circuit will be finished several days before the Grand Prix. Additionally, around 30 % of the grandstands will be ready for the F3 and GT races in July.

Approximately 150 workers are employed to set up the grandstands. This process started at the Grao Area with the installation of grandstands T-19 and T-20 and will be followed by the installation of T-7. T-18 and T-1 to T-6 will be set up last because they are located in the streets near the Port of Valencia.

The Valencia Street Circuit consists of 26 grandstands with a capacity for 112,771 spectators. There is also a stand suitable for disabled people in wheelchairs.

The grandstands weigh more than 3,200 tons and are made of steel, aluminium and wood, while the seats are plastic and have backrests.

The Swiss company Nusslí, renowned internationally for its work in this sector, is responsible for carrying out the design and the assembly process for the Valencia Street Circuit. Nusslí has planned these elements so that spectators will enjoy the best views in complete safety. Nüssli has placed the grandstands in a way that offers spectators maximum visibility, while rigorously complying with the safety regulations which require a minimum of three metres separation between the grandstand and the protective barriers.

The size of the grandstands depends on their location in the Valencia Street Circuit e.g. T-3 is the smallest with capacity for 1,200 people, while T-10 is the biggest with room for 9,474 spectators.

T-9 is the highest platform, at 15 metres, while T-17 is only 5 metres high. The width of the grandstands varies between 30 and 140 metres and individual seats measure approximately 50 cm, which ensures that the spectators will be seated comfortably.

VIP Grandstands

The Valencia Street Circuit has two VIP grandstands (T-1 and T-2) located in privileged positions because the spectators there will enjoy both the start and the finish of the race. What is more, they are next to the pit lane and the boxes, and spectators will not miss a single second of the races.

T-1 and T-2 are the only grandstands that are completely covered and the individual seats are the same as those in the other grandstands; however these grandstands also have VIP boxes with wooden partitions.
